CrossFit
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning fitness methodology. Its stated goal is to create "the quintessential athlete, equal parts gymnast, Olympic weightlifter, and sprinter." Crossfit is not sport-specific and promotes broad and general overall physical fitness. Its growing popularity has been fuelled by a virtual community Internet model. CrossFit maintains that proficiency is required in each of 10 fitness domains: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. The program's weightlifting component includes complex, compound movements with heavy loads. CrossFit also uses kettlebells, gymnastics rings, pullup bars and many calesthenics exercises. CrossFit may call on athletes to run, row, climb ropes, jump up on boxes, flip giant tires, and carry odd objects. They can also bounce medicine balls against the floor or a target on a wall.

At Elite Strength and Conditioning, Inc. we often refer to CrossFit as the sport of fitness because of the competitive nature of the WODS (WORKOUT OF THE DAY). Therefore, as strength and conditioning coaches, we treat our classes as team workouts. We will educate you as well as push you. You will be held accountable for your actions both during the wods as well as where you are away from the team. It is up to no one but you to eat well and get enough rest to appropriately recover. Your teammates will also be there to support you in your pursuit of health and fitness. CrossFit will change your life! A convenient and unavoidable by-product of fitness is improved appearance. Interestingly enough, the inverse is not true. That is, if we train specifically for improved appearance, we may achieve it (although rarely is this the case); however, if we train for fitness, not only do we improve appearance, but we also improve our ability to function well in both daily tasks and our chosen recreation. How many fat and out of shape athletes have you seen? CrossFit Classes CrossFit training is offered in a small group format. We do our best to limit class size to 10 athletes per coach.
